Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an Associate/Senior Safety Engineer to be based in our Carlsbad, New Mexico location.
The successful candidate will be matrixed to an operations area to assure safety is implemented compliantly on the back shift. Accurately interpret, apply and explain applicable codes, laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Use initiative and independent judgment to make decisions within established guidelines. Understand and follow departmental policies. Serve as a consultant to Site Operations for the purpose of achieving full compliance with applicable federal, state and DOE requirements pertaining to Industrial Safety. Conduct frequent inspections of site facilities and job performance to ensure compliance with requirements and safety of personnel. Conduct reviews of site procedures, purchase requisitions and work instructions to ensure hazards are appropriately defined and mitigated.
-Bachelor of Science degree in a related field, or
-Associate’s plus four (4) years of experience, or
-High School Diploma or GED plus eight (8) years of experience is required
-Minimum years of experience must be in a Safety related field
-Previous mining or industrial safety experience is mandatory
-Experience in implementation of OSHA/MSHA standards in an industrial/mining environment is essential
-Ability to attain underground qualification, respirator qualification and RADII qualification is required
-Due to the nature of work, candidates must be US Citizens
-Background in OSHA/MSHA Lockout/Tagout , Fall Protection, Excavations, Maintenance, and Electrical is preferred
-A Safety Certification would be a plus
